Overview
The Diocesan Youth Retreat Team (DYRT) is a Catholic retreat team sponsored by the Diocesan Youth Office. The team consists of college-aged students who plan and implement high school (9-12) and junior high (6-8) day and weekend retreats for the Diocese of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. With the assistance of the diocesan staff, DYRT members receive ongoing faith and leadership formation.DYRT retreats range in length from six hours to two-day retreats. Using a variety of themes, team members conduct retreats for hundreds of youth. These retreats are high-energy experiences that use large group presentations, small group discussions, music, drama and personal faith sharing.
Our hope for all the young people we work with is they that will embrace the challenge from Pope Benedict XVI to "build your life on Christ, to accept the Word with joy, and put its teachings into practice" (from the Message of Holy Father to the Youth of the world on the Occassion of the 21st World Youth Day).
